On the whole M83's (Anthony Gonzalez) albums so far have been progressively good with the odd epic track and 'Hurry Up, We're Dreaming' is no different. What sets it apart is the inclusion of a few more stand out anthemic tracks in comparison to previous albums 'Saturday=Youth' & 'Digital Shades'.
The second track on the album 'Midnight City' is one of my favourite tracks this year, every time I hear it my heart jumps and I get a tad nostalgic. Other top tracks: 'Claudia Lewis', 'OK Pal' & 'Steve McQueen'.
'Hurry Up, We're Dreaming' is a big ball of melancholic vocals, 80's synths and folk/retro-rock which crescendos in the middle and then washes over you at points with some of the instrumentals but overall I like it, a definite grower. When you learn that the album was created whilst in the Joshua Tree desert, California suddenly it all makes sense, all he needs now is a film to accompany the soundtrack.
And who doesn't love a bit of sexy sax too...
