At a screening for New American Noise & Nokia Music (which premièred at Sundance Film Festival) last night I viewed some great short films showcasing emerging talent and music scenes in America. Four directors produced six films in all, on;
New York City, New Orleans, Detroit, Portland, Atlanta & LA.
New York City, New Orleans, Detroit, Portland, Atlanta & LA.
"Each film will take place in a different city
and showcase the new guard of young talent
and unique sounds of American music today.
Showcasing diverse genres:
the strip clubs of Atlanta,
the indie scene in Portland,
genre mixing soul music from Detroit,
the sensation of New Orleans' sissy bounce,
underground alternative rap culture in New York City,
and electro music created in LA's valley,
each of the films will reveal cinematic
portraits of distinct music sub cultures."
I'm not only hooked on the New Orleans Bounce and Detroit Strip Club films but have a new found love for Bounce Music and Trinadad James' fashion choices.
Eye-poppingly good films...
