alt-J

Cambridge based alt-J's debut album "An Awesome Wave" truly is a brilliant & beautiful album.

Favourite track from the album is "Fitzpleasure" which I absolutely adore, followed by "Taro". You may recognise "Breezeblocks" or "Matilda" which Ghostpoet has been busy remixing.

Dreamy, whimsical summer tones...

St Lucia

Brooklyn based St Lucia (aka South African Jean-Philip Grobler) released the latest track from their self-titled EP yesterday 'Before the Dive', which is my personal favourite from the EP.

St Lucia's sound is evocative of M83, with synthy-euphoric-pop tones and subtle 80's influences.

Catch them at Camp in London on Thursday 17th May - http://neongoldrecords.com/tickets/tickets.php?event=23802

The Cobra Society

Zeus Saffron boots
The Louise Clutch

Based in New York The Cobra Society use inspiration from North African culture and 20th Century drawings and philosophies by Le Corbusier and Giorgio di Sant'Angelo to fuse old and new together.

The Cobra Society have some killer boots from their Fall 2011 collection (which was Alex Davis's debut collection), my heart's set on a pair of Zeus Black Olive thigh-high boots, not sure I can part with $1,195 though.

They also do a mighty fine clutch too...

Alabama Shakes

Alabama Shakes have a whole lot'a soul and lead Brittany Howard has one hell of a killer voice on her too. Formed in Georgia, Alabama in 2009 the Alabama Shakes have been stirring up a blues-rock & southern-soul concoction ever since, culminating in their début album 'Boys & Girls'.

Their performance on Jools Holland got me hooked and their album is truly crackin'. Favourite tracks are 'Hang Loose', 'Hold On', 'Be Mine' and 'Goin' to the Party'.

Get stuck in...

Anhanguera

Drearily sifting through my ipod last weekend I decided to listen to Anhanguera's mix from Sept' 2011 at D-Edge in Sao Paulo - I then proceeded to have a party for one in the following two hours before heading out on the razzle dazzle.

Anhanguera are a Brazillian duo from Sau Paulo (Dudu Palandre & Décio Deep). To quote from their Soundcloud page; "...part of the new generation of funky and jackin house producers, having released several tracks through respectable labels such as Robsoul, Minority, Tango, Guesthouse & Good Family. Their music is a mix of classic disco, jazz and hip hop samples with funky bass lines and fat beats. Their mixes go from deep funky house to jackin, combining old school references with brand new sounds. Always sexy, groovy and driving"

Anyone who includes 'I'll House You' by the Jungle Brothers, 'Rainbow's Juice' by Pirupa & Albert Marzinotto & 'Make A Move' by Larry Fives is OK in my book. You need this in your life...

Django Django

Really enjoying Django Django's self-titled album, packed with great tracks. You'll probably recognise their tres catchy track 'Default' - other top tracks on the album are 'Waveforms', 'Firewater' and 'Storm', which has just been released.

All we need now is a summer...

The Shoes

I've been listening to The Shoes quite a lot this week, not so keen on their video for 'Time to Dance' though.

'Stay the Same' tickles my fancy...
