AlunaGeorge

AlunaGeorge are made up of Aluna Francis (vocals) and George Reid (music), their biggest track 'You know you like it' is great and the new wave garage remix from B-15 Project is even better. Their 'Analyser' & 'We are chosen' EP proved popular last year after it's release in April, a very promising band.

Aluna's airy voice is reminiscent of some of my favourite garage tracks, and that can never be a bad thing...

New Look - New Look

One of the biggest albums of 2011 (in my eyes) was the self titled debut album 'New Look' and it's set to be be even bigger this year, if not already. 


The Canadian duo; Sarah Ruba (vocals & synths) a part-time model (she graced the pages of January's American Vogue amongst others) as well as being the front woman of New Look and her husband Adam Pavao (keyboards & production) have spent the last 3 years developing this ear candy in Brooklyn, Berlin & Hamilton. They also supported The XX on their last tour.


I've played 'New Look' to bits and still love it which says something to me. The first track on the album is HUGE - 'Nap on the bow', other favourites are...all of them...or 'The Ballad', 'Teen Need', 'You & I'... no, I actually love every track. This.is.rare.

Grimes - Visions

Grimes delicately beautiful voice flows through her new album 'Visions', which has been on repeat in my headphones for the last week. 


'Genesis' and 'Vowels = space and time' are my two favourites...at the moment at least.

Fall 2012 Beauty is varied, 1990's accents pushed through at Stella McCartney (stark purple lashes) and Marc Jacobs (heroin chic Kohl eyes & grunge locks), Versace are all about the kitsch 1920's with sheer brows, which contrasts what I like to call 'The Brother Brows' widely seen across the shows for Fall 2012; Prada, Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Rodarte, Marc Jacobs...

   

And then the new age grunge takes hold; Chanel's futuristic sequin brows, Anna Sui's stunning cobalt flicks & dots and Lanvin's fat black sweeps all contrast the messy Kohl & colour blocked eyes of Jean Paul Gaultier, Dries Van Norten, Prada to mention a few. Orange and lilac accents most noticeably crept through the runways in soft hues and neon brights.

A great matrimony of Adele's 'Set fire to the rain' and Daft Punk's 'Something about us'.
