Compuphonic

Researching some tracks last week I stumbled upon Compuphonic's 'Sunset' EP featuring Marques Toliver and it immediately caught my ear.

Deep, soulful and very catchy.

The Junius Mixtape by Compuphonic is also a great listen packed with warm soulful sounds...

Dusky

Absolutely adoring Dusky at the moment - the London based duo mix together old skool house and garage samples with delicious results.

Favourite off of the EP is 'Every Day', closely followed by 'Flo Jam' which samples Aaliyah 'Rock the Boat'...

Catch them playing this weekend at;

Bug Under Glass's framed beetle dioramas by artist/biologist Kevin Clarke are on my wish list - I'm especially keen on the Banjo Beetle.

Purity Ring - Shrines

Canadian duo Megan James (Singer) and Corin Roddick (whiz-kid Producer) make up Purity Ring - they met two years ago when Megan was recruited to lay vocals down on some of Corin's beats and have been making lullaby indie pop ever since.

'Fineshrine' is their strongest track from their album Shrines, followed by 'Amenamy' and 'Obedear'.

Give Shrines a chance, it's definitely a grower...

Weekend Memories

Photo: We would like to say one last big THANK YOU to everyone who was part of our first Eastern Electrics Festival. The staff, production and security who worked so hard, the artists who provided an outstanding soundtrack and of course, to every one of you who came down to enjoy the day. You were all fantastic. Big respect to those who made the effort to come in costume – Particularly the lego people, you looked amazing!

It’s been an epic journey for us – one that’s seen everyone acquire more than a few grey hairs and a nicotine habit, but what unforgettable moments seeing MK drop his 2012 edit of ‘Burning’ in the Black Atlantic arena, Pan-Pot tearing it up at Krankbrother and of course, that epic sunset gleaming through the stunning London skyline as Jamie Jones dropped ‘Tourist Trap’.

As with every event there are always things you wish you had organised differently:

The Bars

The bar service should have been quicker. Unfortunately the Council decided on Friday morning that they wanted all cans poured into plastic cups which meant that lots of drinks took twice as long to deliver. If we had known earlier we could have booked extra staff to compensate and introduced a more effective queuing system.

Toilets

We should have had more toilets. We did get another 20 Toilets delivered mid afternoon, which helped but we should have had these on site at the start. We should also have employed dedicated toilet attendants to clean and stock up toilets more regularly.

The VIP Area

Unfortunately the landlord of the site let us down over the VIP area. We will not allow anyone else, in the future, to have any control over any aspect of the site.

Futureboogie vs. Hands On Decks

We are just as disappointed as many of you that the Futureboogie / Hands On Decks stage was not allowed to go ahead. This was due to a last minute ruling from local authorities to ensure the smoothest running and best possible sound levels on site. We would like to thank Futureboogie and Hands On Deck for being so understanding. Details of the free party will follow soon.

After Party

There was a confusion after 1am with the search lanes into the O2 Complex, so that some people had problems attending the After Show.

Feedback

We’re very keen to hear your thoughts, so please send all comments, good or bad, to info@easternelectrics.com

We will be conducting a survey within 2 weeks to gather the thoughts of you all about what we should do for next year and about other things we are not doing at the moment that you would like the EE Team to consider.

To be the first to hear about our plans for next year, please register at www.easternelectricsfestival.com
